Our very good friend, Herbert Baglione, who was the cover of our Brazil issue in 2009, will be opening a new solo show, Obituary, with the team down in Mexico City who runs both FIFTY24MX and Juxtapoz Latin America. As you know, for over the past 10 years, Baglione has become of the Brazil's leading contemporary artists, working both in street murals, installation, and fine art, with traits that illuminate existential dilemmas and the perils of modernity and isolated urban life. Phew, we got heavy. 

It looks like Paul Insect, Lush, and Sweet Toof had a lot of fun in the DF neighborhood of Mexico City this month, teaming up with our friends at FIFTY24MX and Juxtapoz Latin America to create a ton of murals and street works around town. Pretty playful stuff as well... more to come.

Our old friend David Choe (that full issue with David we did is a bible of how to do art on your own terms) has been extremely busy over the past few months. You could start with his date night with Aubrey Plaza if you wanted to. But Dave is currently in Mexico City, painting murals and collaborating with a current Jux favorite, Dhear. Before then, David hosted an art workshop with the children of South Central, Los Angeles with aims to complete a 40 foot wall surrounding their playground at A Place Called Home (APCH).

Here is a glimpse into Francis Alÿs' video "Tornado" where the video artist travels a region in the Mexican countryside where tornados frequently occur and attempts to run into the eye of the storm. Alÿs is Belgian-born and currently lives and works in Mexico City.

Our friends at Juxtapoz Latin America just passed along information about a show we wished we were checking in person out next week, with one of our current favorites Smithe and Dhear opening a show, La Llegada de Apophs, at FIFTY24MX Gallery in Mexico City. Smithe, you may remember, was in the magazine a few months back, and Dhear has been on our radar with some outstanding street works that have popped up in recent months. 

Leading Mexican contemporary artist, and a favorite here at Juxtapoz, Saner was recently in Cali, Colombia for a mural festival curated by Fundiberarte and Street Skills Cali. The festival was the city's first International Biennial Mural Exhibition, a week long event that brought in over 58 artists from around the world. 

A little sneak attack from our December 2012 cover artist, Conor Harrington, as he painted a new mural in Mexico City without the fanfare of festival or exhibition. While on vacation, the London-based artist took a day to leave something in the DF. As our colleagues at Juxtapoz Latin America said, "We hope to see you soon back in Latin lands, Mr. Harrington."

As you can probably tell, we have a mini-obsession with Mexico City-based Smithe these days. A mixture of nostalgic, vintage illustrative style and a bit of the grotesque and absurd make for a beautiful combination, and Smithe is one of the best at the moment. Here is a look at some new music posters and graphic illustrations the artist has completed recently.

The always good Mexico City-based Smithe just sent our colleagues at Juxtapoz Latin America images of his process creating his latest work, The Last Letter. The work was created on the occasion of "Slow Death", exhibition of various artists based on the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration.

????FIFTY24MX Gallery in Mexico City and our team at Juxtapoz Latin America just sent us some preview images of the Usugrow curated Azma exhibition opening on November 9, 2012.
