Today we are very pleased to show an inside look at our very special June 2013 issue, Beastie Boys: A Visual History + Tribute to MCA. For the special issue, we have interviewed every album cover artist, from Polly Wog Stewto Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, inner-sleeve artists, photographers, and even feature some of the outtakes that went into every album cover. We find the inside stories of how each album came to fruition through the experiences and artwork of each artist that is now part of the Beastie Boys canon. The issue was curated and compiled by our contributing editor-at-large, Joey Garfield.

In Haze's words about this billboard, “I was recently asked to create a memorial piece to honor MCA as part of the billboard project currently going on in LA.  The piece just went up yesterday at Santa Monica and Vine, and is the third in a trilogy behind Kaves and Shepard.  I was grateful to be given such a public forum to properly celebrate the life of my friend and collaborator Adam Yauch, and hope that these memorials will reverberate among the community that continues to mourn his passing.”

Juxtapoz contributing editor Joey Garfield, who collaborated with the Beastie Boys in the past, sent us a message he wrote about the passing of his friend, Adam "MCA" Yauch. The piece makes it quite clear; someone special was lost, and his reach as an artist and a man will live on with a very special legacy....

U.K.’s Aroe painted this proper tribute in honor of the recent passing of legendary rapper, Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of the Beastie Boys.  At 64 feet in length, this thing is going to be bending necks.
