Maya Hayuk has always been one of our favorite artists, and we loved the last time we saw her work in the magazine was our very special Barnstormers issue in December 2009. She is now opening a new set of works at Toronto's Cooper Cole Gallery, opening on September 6, 2012.

Our good friends in Mexico City made it out to the 2012 Mexico Contemporary Art Fair (MACO) last week, and from the looks of it, there was a ton of good booths and artists on display in Mexico City, including Takashi Murakami, Dr Lakra, George Condo, Pedro Friedeberg, Maya Hayuk, Clayton Brothers, and other heavyweights of the contemporary art world. Brooklyn-based artist, Maya Hayuk recently received the Wet Paint Grant, supplying her with a year worth of art equipment.  Beautiful/Decay Magazine provided the Grant to the artist in conjunction with Canson and Royal Talens art supply brands.  Maya’s is a multi-talented artist who works in a variety of mediums. Wondering the streets of Brooklyn, chanced are you will likely stumble across one of Maya’s vibrant murals, adding some color to your day.  

On December 30, 2010, just one day before everyone would be celebrating the new year, Kelie Bowman and Sto were busy celebrating a funeral at their gallery Cinders in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Cinders Gallery has been at 103 Havemeyer Street since opening in 2004, but after the neighborhoods latest rent increase, Sto and Kelie decided it was time to pack it up and start looking for a new location. Not before throwing one more party though...
