Follow a haunting narrative in Marci Washinton's newest zine...
Juxtapoz // Friday, July 18, 2014
We like Marci Washington, so much so that she has been a cover of Juxtapoz and a cover of the Juxtapoz Dark Arts book. The Bay Area artist just released a new book of her own, For Forever I'll Be Here, and will be having a book signing tonight, July 18, at Park Life Mission from 6—8pm. Go check it out, get some paper love, get it signed.

Forget the relentless production of teenage vampire television shows or low budget slasher movies with continuing sequels and remakes. Marci Washington paints the dark arts from a past era, influenced by the ornate beauty and the mysterious worlds of Edward Gorey, L. Frank Baum, and Francisco Goya. Remix these masters of fantasy with Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, and you get the work of this Berkeley-based artist.

Ending the year on a strong note, Rena Bransten Gallery of San Francisco is getting set to open a body of new work from Juxtapoz favorite, Marci Washington on December 19, 2013. Sleeping Spell will feature a series of new watercolor paintings that channel gothic, horror, mystery, and fashion traits, and remind us why we loved Washington's work so much it became the cover of our Dark Arts book!

Our April 2010 subscriber and Dark Arts book cover artist, Marci Washington, returns to Rena Bransten Gallery in San Francisco with For Forever I'll Be Here, featuring a new series of watercolor and gouache paintings. And Marci notes, "If everything goes according to plan there might be a new zine released that night as well." More after the jump . . .
