Mapache Salado is an artist from Spain whose pastel portraits of women have a gorgeous, tactile personality. Visibly hand-drawn with pencils and gold ink on informal surfaces like graph-paper, Salado's artworks take on a beautifully familiar look and feel. The sketchy, tentative linework and home-made patterning create layers of fresh, graphic imagery. Salado's work finds influence in Mucha, Klimt and Schiele as well as fashion and skate/BMX culture. Salado loves animated movies, punk music, Nietzsche and Bugs Bunny.
