A message from the curator of our Special Halloween October 2012 issue, Alex Pardee: "So, as I announced a couple of weeks ago, I'm curating and art directing the entire upcoming Halloween issue of JUXTAPOZ magazine and I have collected a pretty rad bunch of weirdos to join me for the ride. A busy summer it has been all around in the art world, but in our home base of the San Francisco Bay Area, we have had two significant museum retrospectives that have made their way into the September 2012 issue of Juxtapoz. First off, we celebrate our cover story, Daniel Clowes, and his fantastic exhibition at the Oakland Museum of California, Modern Cartoonist: The Art of Daniel Clowes. If you haven't picked up the Adult Swim x Juxtapoz July 2012 issue, what are you doing?

The May 2012 issue of Juxtapoz is our special examination on the state of Public Art in 2012. We have spent over a year discussing the topic of community sevice and Public Art programs with festival organizers, politicians in the US and abroad, and artists about their experiences developing Public Art initiatives and bodies of work, and how their experiences can be blueprints for other artists and cities to follow to better communities around the world. This issue is what we learned. Preview after the jump . . .
