After living and going to school in Chicago for a few years, Luke Pelletier went back to his rural-tourist-driven-hometown, Brevard, North Carolina, for a few months to make the work for his first solo in over three years. Living in a tourist town for much of his life, he has been heavily influenced by seasonal economies, as well as the multi-level relationships, dependence and resentment, between tourists and locals.

We recently covered LA's "Tonight, We Fight!" an exhibit curated by Luke Pelletier, whose work deserves its own post. Playful, fresh and unique, Pelletier creates art that is as much illustration as it is design, employing bold shapes of oranges and pastels to highlight creepy-cute characters. Leopards, reapers, alligators and skulls populate his work, expressing patterns and imagery we'd love to have on our canvas sneakers and skateboards as well as framed on a wall. Pelletier currently lives in Chicago.
