On Sunday, June 16, from 7-9PM, influential street documentarian Gusmano Cesaretti (featured in MOCA's Art In the Streets and our joining issue), will have a special book signing and exhibition at Family Bookstore in Los Angeles. The photographer's Los Angeles work will be on display, and his new monograph, Fragments of Los Angeles (1969 - 1989), will be available for purchase and signing.

Juxtapoz contributing editor, Hannah Stouffer, has made a homebase in downtown Los Angeles the past week working on a 40-foot mural on the 6th Street wall at the Standard Downtown hotel. She titled the mural, "E.P.S.T (Existence, Possibility, Space and Time)," noting that "I’ve been drawn to focusing on themes of metaphysical beingness, as of late. I’m still heavily engaged with our natural landscape, due to my upbringing and an an almost overwhelming admiration for that which we came."

The Museum of Contemporary Art presents Within The River of Time Is My Mind, a new exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Chris Johanson on view at MOCA Pacific Design Center from June 29 through September 22, 2013. Organized by guest curator Andrew Berardini, the exhibition features new paintings, sculpture, and found wood site-specific installation. Known for his figurative work that features text, the exhibition will highlight the kaleidoscopic color and angles that Johanson employs.

London-based, Portugal-born Pedro Matos, who we had the chance to finally meet at Ivory & Black's booth at Art Basel in Miami this past year, will be having his first solo show in Los Angeles at Martha Otero opening on May 17, 2013. Building Castles Made of Sand featuring a new series of oil paintings on canvas and azulejo panels - a traditional Portuguese medium of hand-painted, tin-glazed, ceramic tile work.

Our friend Gary Baseman has a very special week ahead as he prepares to open The Door Is Always Open at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles on April 25. This will be the former Juxtapoz featured artist, illustrator, animator, and toy designer's first ever museum survey, long overdue in our book. The survey will also feature paintings, photographs, toys, sketchbooks, and videos, presented in a "novel gallery setting that evokes Baseman’s childhood home, replete with family snapshots and furnishings." Be there.

Internationally acclaimed Swiss-born artist Urs Fischer just opened his first comprehensive museum retrospective in the U.S. at MOCA in Los Angeles. The exhibition includes his work, Horses Dream of Horses, which includes 1,500 plaster and resin raindrops hung on nylon string.
