Erynn Richardson "Sacred & Haunted" @ Bermudez Projects, LA

Juxtapoz // Friday, August 28, 2015
Call her “The Re-Animator.” In her new show at Bermudez Projects in Downtown Los Angeles, Erynn Richardson brings back to life the deer that hunters across America stalk, kill, stuff, and display; and turns them into nigh-religious icons. Richardson, who earned her MFA at California State University, Long Beach, says, “In my artistic practice I explore how people use objects to tell stories about themselves. Objects often become metaphors for power and class; owning or displaying them weaves a narra

Carl Cashman "An Edited Version of Life" @ Thinkspace Gallery

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, August 12, 2015
Concurrently on view in the Thinkspace project room are new works by UK-based artist Carl Cashman in An Edited Version of Life. Cashman creates vibrant neon colored op-art, a genre he has coined “neometry”, or neon geometry. Solo Show of Photos from Pinup Artist-Model, Bunny Yeager

Juxtapoz // Monday, August 03, 2015
Gavlak Los Angeles presents a solo show of photographs by artist-model Bunny Yeager, including hand-painted photographs of Bunny, Bettie Page, numerous self-portraits, and images that reveal behind the scene secrets to how she created her work. Born Eleanor Linnea Yeager in Pittsburgh, PA in 1929, Bunny passed away in 2014 in Miami, Florida. The ironic innocence of Bunny Yeager’s pin-up format compositions is palpable in the current pop-historical climate in which pornography is an explosive international industry, with a panoramic range between entertaining and damaging.

Jeffrey Milstein's Aerial Photos of Urban Landscape and Cruise Ships

Photography // Saturday, August 01, 2015
We love the way Jeffrey Milstein’s photographs of cities make strange out of what seems like ordinary city landscapes. Milstein’s photos of Los Angeles and New York choose frames that call the extraordinary out in urban planning, landscape design, and simply focus on the geometry of intersecting architectures. His series on cruise ships documents the luxury transportation with an aesthetic frankness. Milstein studied architecture at Berkeley and currently works out of New York.
