Isaac Cordal continues to produce unique, and creative ways at approaching street art. His small interventions in the big city series featured miniature characters placed on urban streets. In this series, Cement Bleak, Isaac takes kitchen strainers, sculpts human faces into the mesh, and inserts them into the ground. As sunlight or streetlights shines through the strainers, they cast a shadow portrait on the sidewalk.

Juxtapoz' London contributor, Butterfly, made it over to The Outsiders space for the opening of Pete Hawkins' new exhibition, Behind Closed Doors. From the gallery, "Behind Closed Doors takes Pete's process of painting on found materials forward another step: it features miniature modern fables on antique doors."

One of our favorite painters that we have learned about over the past year is Romanian artist Dan Voinea, who mixes both a classical realist style with an almost performance like character connstruction. Voinea just opened a solo show, A Momentary Rise of Reason, at Beers.Lambert Contemporary in London. As the gallery notes, " Yet while technically realistic and anatomically correctly proportioned, the works are characterized as much by their apparent lack of realism: their fantastical tendencies, collapsing or nondescript environments and preference for magic realist narratives. "

Great news for one of our favorite artists. David Shrigley, who we were super lucky to interview for our September 2012 issue this year while he was in San Francisco for his exhibition at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, was nominated for Britain's top art award for an artist under 50, the Turner Prize. The artist was nominated for his standout (we saw it, we agree) exhibition at Hayward Gallery in London. That show traveled to us in SF. Take some time to read our piece with Mr Shrigley from Sept 2012.

We are enjoying the paintings of Antony Micallef. Antony won the second prize in the BP Portrait Award competition at the National Portrait Gallery in 2000 and has since exhibited throughout the world including LA, New York, Tokyo, and Bethlehem. He mixes political imagery fused with contemporary expressionism.

If you find yourself needing to do something on your lunch break, well, in this case, evening break, we suggest our London readers head over to the St Pancras Station to see the fantastic public art sculpture work by Studio Orta, Cloud I Meteros. The piece depicts gray characters atop two white clouds.

A great group show, featuring a slew of artists that have been in the magazine in recent months (Sandow Birk, Bill Dunlap) will be part of Fresh Paint at Lazarides' Rathbone space in London. Brett Amory and Frank Laws are just a few others in the show that celebrates a new wave of contemporary painters that have been catching the eye of the Lazarides' team. Go check it. 

We have posted the hyperrealistic sculptures of London-based Ron Mueck before. His first major exhibition since 2005 opened today at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain today.
