Polly Penrose: "A Body Of Work"

Erotica // Tuesday, November 25, 2014
We know this isn't traditionally known as "erotica," but because of the NSFW nature, it resides in this section. But Polly Penrose's serios "A Body Of Work" has such a command of color, structure and form, and we love her comment that "It feels like I’m hammering my body into the landscape of the room, one picture at a time."

Walker’s first London gallery show in three years, sees this incredibly talented urban artist presenting a fresh new take on his signature portrait style in a show named after a mantra coined by the artist himself; which refers to the creative battle an artist wages to create work in today’s climate in the face of conspiring forces both internal and external.

Egon Schiele "The Radical Nude" @ The Courtauld Gallery, London

Erotica // Wednesday, October 22, 2014
It is funny to include these groundbreaking works in an Erotica section, yet looking at it another way, these works pratcially invented the term. From The Courtauld: Egon Schiele (1890 - 1918) is one of the most important artists of the early 20th century and a central figure of Austrian Expressionism. This exhibition brings together an outstanding group of the artist’s nudes to chart his ground-breaking approach during his short but urgent career. Schiele’s technical virtuosity, highly original vision and unflinching depictions of the naked figure distinguish these works as being among his most significant contributions to the development of modern art.
