In 1949, LIFE magazine's Gijon Mili visited and documented Pablo Picasso in the South of France. Mili was known for technical innovations, and Picasso, appear of Mili's talents, wanted to try and few experiments of his own. Alas, these light drawings were part of the documentation. Did Picasso like shirts?

From 2011: Astral Flight Hangar is the first solo exhibition at Christopher Henry Gallery of multidisciplinary light artist Dev Harlan. Occupying two floors, his hybrid works combines the physical and the virtual with the use of sculpture, light and projection.

In order to fully understand what light painting is, because, I don't know, I think it needed a definition, I went to Wikipedia and found this: "Light painting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera." Knowing this, Simon Berger has created a fantastic series of light paintings made to appear as if light was raining on the figure in the photos.

Today we've got an awesome sample of long exposure photography done extremely well from self taught artist Kaalam. Kaalam or also known as Julien Breton is a French based artist that has creates extraordinary calligraphy long exposure photos. See more after the jump....

Perhaps our favorite part of this series of new light paintings by Brian Matthew Hart is that these were created in a western-Illinois attic. Something about the locale makes these even better. His light paintings appear like photographs of the simplest daily activities, adding an element of surrealism to an otherwise mundane scenario.
