Like a lot of kids, LEGOs were a huge part of our childhood. There is no way we are getting rid of those 3 giant boxes of plastic bricks in our closet! Because of the incredible amount of dedication we put into building plastic space ships as a kid, we are proud that "adults' are out there still "playing" with them, and as it seems in Nathan Sawaya's case, making a career out of it!

We have been lamenting that we have to wait so long for the last season of Breaking Bad. Brian Anderson has put the long wait to good use. He has created what a LEGO computer game of Breaking Bad could look like if it were to be made. Nothing wrong with a little meth cooking in a video game, get on it LEGO! Industrial Designer Tobias Tøstesen used 8,000 transparent LEGO bricks to create his masterpiece Chandelier for the Milan Furniture Fair 2013. The floor to ceiling fixture casts and reflects light similar to the natural Nordic sunlight.  

Contact 1 is a the first in a series of large-scale LEGO works that celebrate 'extra terrestrial contact events, spiritual beings and unique worlds.' The artist, New Jersey-based Mike Doyle is offering limited edition prints and DIY instructions for parts of Contact 1 on Kickstarter.

Let us explain ourselves a bit here. We just brought out a 1986 Mac in our office the other day, sort as a fun reminder of time's past, also as an Oregon Trail time-wasting activity. So when we saw Chris McVeigh's original Apple Macintosh, the 29-year old version, created out of LEGOs, we felt a bit on the same page with Mr McVeigh.

There is a higher power. Somebody was smart enough to create the LEGO Hotel, placed at LEGOLAND in Carlsbad, California. First off, having theme rooms of our favorite LEGO sets would be enough, but you have major portions of the hotel built completely out of LEGOs. The 250-room hotel will open on April 5, 2013, and we might just have to report straight from location.

Entertain your Super Bowl party/Academy Awards guests (or guest, maybe you keep it low key) with something a little more arty this year. We suggest going LEGO, as in LEGO ice cube blocks in yer whiskey and... er, in your Coke or ice water. Make 10 at a time, build yourself a good evening.

If you are a human, which we assume you are, then you have to be impressed and probably have watched the amazing, 24-mile skydive-human flying-jump by Felix Baumgartner this past weekend. Of course, these things can't be immortalized unless they are Lego-ized. Which has been done now at Vienna’s Model Maker Fair.
