Another great part of the Art In the Streets exhibition is LEE Q's wall when you walk in, representing, or at least it seemed apparent to us, the NYC contingent at the show. And next to LEE's two pieces was a recreation of Patti Astor's seminal FUN Gallery that used to be the downtown spot in NYC for graffiti artists to exhibit in the 1980s. More after the jump . . .
We have been following the progress of LEE's mural at MOCA's Art In the Streets all weekend, and yesterday evening finally took a few shots of the beautiful progress that he has been in making. LEE, our April 2011 subscriber cover artist and featured in the magazine, has been painting the large facade outside of the Geffen with PUSH and RISK, at least when we took these pictures. We end the work week with a music video that Fab 5 Freddy told us about this week: Blondie's "The Hardest Part." Fred was telling us about how he and LEE painted all the background and floor pieces, and Jean-Michel Basquiat came in and finished off the wall with various writings. Amazing time. Historical time.
