A great group show, featuring a slew of artists that have been in the magazine in recent months (Sandow Birk, Bill Dunlap) will be part of Fresh Paint at Lazarides' Rathbone space in London. Brett Amory and Frank Laws are just a few others in the show that celebrates a new wave of contemporary painters that have been catching the eye of the Lazarides' team. Go check it. 

As we reported yesterday on the site, NYC-based Dan Witz, who has been a pillar of street art over the past 30 years, just opened a brand new exhibtion, Prisoners 2012-13 at Lazarides in London. Witz' debut at Lazarides features his paintings from both his Prisoner and now signature Mosh Pit series. Our London correspondent, Butterfly, took photos at the opening last night in London. The gallery noted that Witz has been dispersing his unique stamp on the streets of London by painting one of his prisoners' image onto phone boxes.

Witz' debut solo show at Lazarides will feature his paintings from both his Prisoner and now signature Mosh Pit series. The gallery notes that Witz will dispersing his unique stamp on the streets of London by painting one of his prisoners' image onto phone boxes.

One of our favorite contemporary artists, Vhils, just opened a new exhibition, Devoid, at Lazarides' Rathbone space in London. The work focuses on the "individual in relation to the overpowering force of urban environments. Working with the city as the prime material, Vhils has used what the urban environment offers in its most derelict spaces as both a location and as a source for materials from wood scraps to rusty metal, discarded billboards and other debris produced by its inhabitants."

We were very excited to see the title of Ian Francis' newest exhibition, 10,000 Years From Now. Obviously, his work resonates with this title perfectly. There seems to be this distant future mixed with familiar figurative elements in each Francis painting, a surreal, mystical experience that has a foundation of contemporary. Francis' latest body of work examines the "fragility of this lifetime in contrast to geological timescales."

London correspondent Butterfly made it out to the highly-anticipated (and we got excited right after our studio visit with Mr. Harrington last month) solo exhibition of Conor Harrington, Dead Meat, that opened at Lazarides Gallery last night. The Irish-born, London-based artist presented 8 large-scale canvases and 24 small studies that reference a "18th-century dinner party, the height of Europe's power and draws comparisons with Contemporary society."

Faile’s newest work at Lazarides Gallery titled Fragments of Faile is refreshingly different and may be a step in a new direction?   The paintings on display appear to have a stronger painterly esthetic, while the imagery more simple.  The show stays up until, December, 3rd if you find yourself in London.

The Lazarides Rathbone space is always showing a good exhibition, and there newest, Time Of the Signs, features some hyperrealist paintings by Boxi. Our London correspondent, Butterfly, made it out to the opening for some photos of the work and space.

Venice Beach, California is going to be home to a new print shop, Post No Bills, and Faile will kick-off the spot with an 10-year retrospective, a decade of prints and and originals, LA Works on Paper. FAILE and Steve Lazarides will be on hand to launch of POST NO BILLS on Friday June 24, 2011.

San Francisco-based, German-born retro-futurist collage and illustrator, Mario Wagner, is set to open his first UK solo show, Cluster 10, at Lazarides Gallery's The Outsiders space in Newcastle, England. The show will feature "free-thinking and colourful retro-futurist scenes blighted by contemporary intruders, well-tailored men seemingly up to no good, made all the more intimidating and inhuman by their balaclavas."
