LEE and the Fun Gallery at MOCA's "Art In the Streets" http://www.juxtapoz.com/street-art/lee-and-the-fun-gallery-at-mocas-art-in-the-streets http://www.juxtapoz.com/street-art/lee-and-the-fun-gallery-at-mocas-art-in-the-streets LEE and the Fun Gallery at MOCA's
Another great part of the Art In the Streets exhibition is LEE Q's wall when you walk in, representing, or at least it seemed apparent to us, the NYC contingent at the show. And next to LEE's two pieces was a recreation of Patti Astor's seminal FUN Gallery that used to be the downtown spot in NYC for graffiti artists to exhibit in the 1980s. More after the jump . . .

The other day, watching an installation come to life at MOCA's Art In the Streets, I was struggling to get my indoor photo settings right. And you know what? Martha Cooper stopped and taught me how to shoot proper indoor art conditions. That has to be a highlight. Right now at Carmichael Gallery in LA, Martha Cooper: Remix just opened, featuring Cooper's classic photos with over 50 artists creating their own unique interpretations of her iconic, historically significant imagery. The much-anticipated Lady Pink/AIKO show at Ad Hoc Art in Brooklyn opens a week from today, Friday March 21st. Not that we’re counting down days or anything. Ad Hoc director and curator Andrew Michael Ford has been feverishly working on this show for months, and we’re confident enough to predict it will all be worth the effort. Both Lady Pink and AIKO have been in the street art game for years, garnering international recognition, as well as a gang of devoted fans. These two amazingly talented and innovative veterans have created quite a collection of work that has undeniably been some of the most influential urban artwork out there.
