In addition to the wonderful Stanley Kubrick exhibition on view at LACMA, there is yet another great reason to stop by this fine Los Angeles art institution during this holiday season: Bodies and Shadows: Caravaggio and His Legacy (which will be up through February 10th, 2013).

We are looking out for your best interests this holiday weekend, and we think if you live in the Southen California, you should definitely check out Stanley Kubrick at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The exhibition covers the breadth of Kubrick’s practice, beginning with his early photographs for Look magazine, taken in the 1940s, and continuing with his groundbreaking directorial achievements of the 1950s through the 1990s.

Juxtapoz headed out to the opening gala at LACMA for TIm Burton's retrospective this weekend, and of course, it will be one of the more heavily trafficked shows of the year in Los Angeles and beyond. “The exhibition brings together over 700 drawings, paintings, photographs, moving-image works, storyboards, puppets, concept artworks, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera, including art from a number of unrealized and little-known personal projects."

After the hugely successful Tim Burton retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, the exhibition is moving to Los Angeles and the LACMA in what we assume will again be a massively attended showcase of Burton's drawings, live-action and animated films, photographs, and illustrations.
