Camille Rose Garcia's "Ambien Somnambulants" at Jonathan LeVine

Camille Rose Garcia (Juxtapoz cover #62) returns to Jonathan LeVine Gallery to present Ambien Somnambulants, a solo exhibition featuring new works by the artist. For Garcia’s second solo show at the gallery she will unveil a new series of original paintings, drawings, and a site-specific installation. In Ambien Somnambulants, tragic sleepwalkers wander along beautifully bleak post-apocalyptic dreamscapes, inspiring dissent from a dire dystopia. Saber: Gets Up in LA/New Print

Grand Opening: Upper Playground LA / Mister Cartoon & Oriol

Upper Playground LA, along with Mister Cartoon and Estevan Oriol's respective retail spaces, "The Last Laugh," will be celebrating their grand opening tomorrow, May 31st, from 1—8PM. Come down to Skid Row (125 E 6th Street) and enjoy all the unveiling fun. As well as the three retail spaces celebrating their grand opening, a fourth retail space, serving as a revolving concept space next door to UP LA and "The Last Laugh," will occupied by Roland Sands Designs. During the open house, it will feature a display of custom motorcycles from 1998 AMA 250cc Champion-turned motorcycle designer Roland Sands and limited-edition fashion pieces from designer and model Tony Ward's line, Six in the Face. As if it couldn’t get any better, Upper Playground LA will also be unveiling their FIFTY24LA Gallery, with an opening show featuring the works of Usugrow, Sam Flores, Jeremy Fish, David Choe, Herbert Baglione, San, Retna, Saber, Alex Pardee, Ron English, Doze Green, Slick, Armsrock and David Ellis. De Niro/Pacino x Mr Cartoon/Oriol

Hollywood icons Robert De Niro and Al Pacino meet LA legends Mister Cartoon (Juxtapoz November 2006 cover) and Estevan Oriol in a Righteous collaboration. In preparation for the upcoming feature film from Overture Films, Righteous Kill, starring De Niro and Pacino, SA Studios principles Mister Cartoon and Estevan Oriol have collaborated with the Overture to create an iconic movie poster to promote the film's September 12, 2008 release. The movie poster is just the first in a series of collaborations between SA Studios, Upper Playground, and Overture Films to promote Righteous Kill. In August of 2008, SA Studios will open the SA Studios / Righteous Kill Downtown LA Experience next door to SA Studios' and Upper Playground's retail spaces in Downtown Los Angeles. The Righteous Kill Experience will feature limited edition merchandise and lithographs signed by Mister Cartoon and Estevan Oriol relating to the film. Upper Playground Takes Over London with Saber and David Choe

Upper Playground has landed in London along with two members of our extended family. Fine artists David Choe and Saber will be exhibiting their solo shows at Lazarides Gallery and UP London, respectively, in the month of March. David Choe, who has exhibited at UP's FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco and has collaborated with the brand in the past, will be exhibiting at the Lazarides Gallery in both London and Newcastle through March. Saber, who is currently collaborating with Upper Playground, will be painting in-store at the UP London location the day of February 29th, and exhibiting throughout March at a guerilla space at a nearby location. 1979: New Estevan Oriol Photo Book
