One Single Thread, One Portrait by Kumi Yamashita

Sometimes you have to sit and process what you are looking at. This is a portrait made from a wooden panel, nails, and one single piece of thread. That is right; one single piece of thread. The panel is painted white, and then the NYC-based artist wraps the black thread around the nails more and more to create the darker sections. Quite... incredible.

This is kind of that WTF art that you the concepts and execution are so strong you just have to say "Wow" to it. Kumi Yamashita makes shadow art, and not just any shadow art, but creating silhouettes by arranging simple objects and lighting to produce these unique pieces. More after the jump . . .
