We've shown the work of Kumi Yamashita on the site before, her single-thread portraits are quite incredible. She also makes shadow art, and not just any shadow art, but creating silhouettes by arranging simple objects and lighting to produce these unique pieces.

Sometimes you have to sit and process what you are looking at. This is a portrait made from a wooden panel, nails, and one single piece of thread. That is right; one single piece of thread. The panel is painted white, and then the NYC-based artist wraps the black thread around the nails more and more to create the darker sections. Quite... incredible.
