New York native and Miami resident Miguel Paredes is a prolific visual artist who continues to create amazing work inspired by his urban experience, whether it’s in New York City, South Beach, or Los Angeles. Miguel grew up with pop art - anime, Batman & Robin, and Warhol - and began painting trains in the late 1970s during the peak of New York City’s graf- fiti explosion. A master of many mediums, today Miguel brings them all out in one painting, creating very bright, friendly, and in your face artwork that speaks to new and old generations of collectors and art aficionados.

“For all its squalor and despair, the laundromat has held a curiously elevated status in the global mind. Things happen in laundromats. People get hurt. People hide. People see God. People fall in love. People go nuts. People make plans. Or so TV and film have led us to believe for the last 40 years. Snorri Sturluson is certainly no exception to the laundromat’s allure. When he moved to New York City in 2001 he was smitten with their charm. It was, Sturluson said, as if everything he’d learned about America over the years had contracted in a brilliant epiphany.

Last Thursday Patrick O’Dell’s photo exhibit “Skateboard High School” opened at Known Gallery in Los Angeles. On hand to check out the show were skateboarders, actors, models and scenesters. People were playing it cool, until they heard that every print, framed or unframed, was available to purchase for only fifty bucks, at which point the cool became crazed.

There is no secret that we love the work of Southern California's Steven Harrington. We had a fantastic feature of his work in the magazine in October 2011, and now as he gets prepared to open his InsideOut exhibition at Known Gallery tonight, August 18, we take a look at the catalog for the show published by Nieves.
