In Illustration: Kenichi Yokono

Illustration // Monday, September 26, 2011
Tokyo-based artist Kenichi Yokono uses traditional woodblock techniques to explore the dark pulse beating beneath the stereotypical elements of modern Japanese popular culture, such as Manga, anime, and horror. His woodblocks are functional yet exhibited directly as originals rather than prints, permitting them to maintain the agency and tangible presence of handmade objects.
