A few things of note here. One, it is always impressive to follow a real photographer's Instagram. Two, it is always interesting to follow a professional photographer's Instagram when they are in a very foreign environment. JR, the famed French social activist, Public Artist, and photographer (plus cover of the May 2012 Issue of Juxtapoz) has been Instragramming straight from North Korea, with some incredible photos of everyday life and various cultural sites. And of course, beautifully composed.

The May 2012 issue of Juxtapoz is our special examination on the state of Public Art in 2012. We have spent over a year discussing the topic of community sevice and Public Art programs with festival organizers, politicians in the US and abroad, and artists about their experiences developing Public Art initiatives and bodies of work, and how their experiences can be blueprints for other artists and cities to follow to better communities around the world. This issue is what we learned. Preview after the jump . . .

A little bit of inspiration for your Tuesday afternoon. French street artist and activist, JR, just released this video about his time in Los Angeles putting together his The Wrinkles of the City chapter in Southern California. The video captures the backstory behind JR's large-scale photo murals, and it gives you insight into how much research and time the artist puts into each city he completes his Inside Out project.
