We recently stopped by LeBasse Projects for their newest exhibition, LA Mixtape. LA MiXTAPE documents the effect of music on the process of creation, asking each participating artist to create a piece titled after a song, artist, or band that has inspired or influenced his/her creative process.

This Saturday, LeBasse Projects in Los Angeles will open Joshua Petker's newest body of work, Adrift. In a departure from his layered, textural, neon portrait paintings combining portrait and abstract styles, Petker's new exhibition features more conceptual, "nautical themed works as well as a companion series of portraits – still recognizable as the same artist but distinctively different paintings."

Warner Bros Records will be hosting an art show in their iconic Burbank building, Vinyl Revisionists, where artists interpret their favorite WB record cover from the past 50 years. The artists have been encouraged to work directly on the record jacket, but not required. We have a mini-preview after the jump . . .

We stopped by LeBasse Projects in Culver City to check out their current group exhibition which showcases artwork form some of their artists that will be exhibiting this year, including works from Herakut, Mike Stilkey, Joshua Petker, Seonna Hong, Jim Houser, Tobias Keene, Katrin Fridriks, Nate Frizzell, Yoskay Yamamoto, Andrew Hem, Matt Haber and Melissa Haslam.  Photos after the jump..

An active graffiti writer from an early age, LA-based Joshua Petker painted street art through college. While pursuing a degree in History, his interest in the arts and Art History expanded beyond graffiti. After studying abroad in Italy during college, he became engrossed in figurative and abstract painting and committed himself to making art his career. He has exhibited in LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Paris, and the U.K.

We just got a few opening photos from the Joshua Petker and Nouar showings that opened last weekend (June 11) at Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. You may have missed our studio visit with Petker based on the show, which you should also check out.

  Joshua Petker’s Celluloid Constellations, opens this Saturday at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles.  We stopped by his studio to see this new body of work and chat with him a little bit. Photos and more after the jump. (Reminder, show opens Saturday, June 11).

Opening June 11, 2011, Nouar and Joshua Petker will both celebrate solo exhibitions at Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, California. For Nouar, it will be her first solo show with Helford, featuring "three-dimensional sugary confections, gelatin dessert molds and a bright, beguiling color palette that lure the viewer in."
