Working in mixed media on canvas and acrylic panels, Ian Francis combines abstraction, figuration, and elements of both painting and drawing. Joshua Liner Gallery has moved spots in NYC to a street-level, 2,600-square-foot exhibition space located at 540 West 28th Street in the Chelsea Arts District. To kick off the opening of the new space, the gallery will open a group show, Direct Address, this Thursday March 21 with a great roster of former Juxtapoz cover artists and features, as well as some new talent that we look forward to checking out. We had the pleasure of attending the opening reception of Dave Kinsey at the Joshua Liner Gallery. Everything at Once, encompass a vast collection of over thirty powerful and audacious paintings and works on paper. Dave’s images have a strong voice that explores a multilayered condensed chaos where its elements struggle to survive. He creates an interesting tension between textures and organic features, where intricate geometry assembles a beautiful representation of an insane world.

After Sandy, one of the largest and fiercest storms to menace the East Coast, galleries re-open their doors and we attend the opening reception of San Francisco based artist Tiffany Bozic, at Joshua Liner Gallery. Her show called Transformation, reminds us a peculiar and colorful Nature where its elements kindly create an unexpected harmony.

Even though superstorm Sandy has postponed the November 1 opening of Tiffany Bozic's reception for Transformation at Joshua Liner Gallery, we have a preview of some of the fantastic new works from the Bay Area artist. Transformation showcases the artist’s meticulous rendering of animal and plant subjects that recasts nature as fable.

We had the pleasure to be visit the opening of the most recent exhibition of Stephen Powers, aka ESPO, at the Joshua Line Gallery in NYC. A Word is Worth a Thousand Pictures is a wonderful translation of Powers' love of sign-painting, images, and colors. The pieces are made of enamel on aluminum with type, graphics and bright pigments, where Powers constructs a unique personal language that speaks to all.
