Paper Abstractions by Joanna McClure

Juxtapoz // Thursday, May 10, 2012
Upon first glance, Joanna McClure's paper abstractions are simple arrangements of geometrically chopped paper. However, within the subtleties of the photographs emerge something more akin to large-scale abstract paintings. Gradual gradations in tone across fields of flat color, simultaneous depth and flatness of the composition, and subdued hues that gently vibrate between each other all contribute to the beauty of these "paper abstractions."
