Jim Sanborn's "The Topographic Projections and Implied Geometry Series"

We showed you a few of these last week, but we forgot to mention them in our Year in Review, so we wanted to showcase Jim Sanborn again. Sanborn creates these images using large-scale light projections and long exposure photographs, revealing details about the surface as well as the relationship between the topographical and the geometric.

Jim Sanborn's long exposure photography, created with searchlights in dark, desolate environments, are some of the most beautiful photographs you are going to see. As part of his The Topographic Projections and Implied Geometries Series, Sanborn needs his camera and projector to be at least 1/2 mile away.
