Jillian Tamaki's Folkloric Illustrations

Jillian Tamaki is an illustrator and cartoonist from Calgary who lives and works out of Brooklyn. She wrote and produced a graphic novel called "Skim," a collaboration with her cousin Mariko, whoch is a coming-of-age story about a private school girl's forays into romance and death. Tamaki's illustration demonstrate wonderfully expressive linework, delicate, muted color application and a strong link to folklore. Tamaki teaches illustration at SVA.

Jillian Tamaki is an illustrator and comics artist who grew up in Calgary, Alberta, on the Canadian Prairies. She went to school there too (the Alberta College of Art and Design) and is currently lives in Brooklyn, NY where she teaches at the School of Visual Arts. Gorgeously ornate illustration work.
