Each summer, Vans curates a group of artists to paint the Van Doren Invitational bowl at the US Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach in California. This year, Rich Jacobs, Jay Howell, Travis Millard, Nat Russell, and Sasha Barr were invited to participate.

While we were down in Austin during SXSW for Juxtapoz Projects, we were able to spend some time with our friends at Vans and check out what they had going on over at Vans Village, a pop-up store featuring exclusive merchandise and collaborations, competitive BMX Ramp and daily Open Mic sessions. We were most excited to learn that Vans brought out our mutual friends and artists Jay Howell, Rich Jacobs, Zio Ziegler, and Smithe to paint shipping containers and the actual store itself! 'Except My Love': Jay Howell at Slow Culture
