This weekend in Portland, the puppet collective by the name of Nightshade will be teaming up with Brooklyn-based band, Japanther, for three days and five shows of collaborative performance.  Thousands of elaborate hand drawn, hand cut pieces of paper will be projected with a flashlight, combined with the silhouetted band to create a low-tech psychedelic puppet-goth spectacle.  Sounds pretty cool eh?

Film makers Kirk Dianda recently collaborated with Amber B in making Japanther's latest stop-moton music video for "Come Back Home," and the animation cels from it are for sale on eBay—which ends Tuesday, May 2. All the art cel proceeds go to Mentalpod.com, a free podcast out of LA that deals with mental health, so click here to purchase original Japanther artwork used in production.

If you have ever seen the band Japanther live, you can tell from their sound equipment that they have been around.  A registry of sorts, a lot of writers have added their signatures over the years.  And some went and made a shirt.

Recently Todd "REAS" James teamed up with the Brooklyn-based band, Japanther, to work on a few projects, the result being new (very milky print) for Todd and a new logo for Japanther. More after the jump...
