Day 8: Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT in San Francisco

Juxtapoz // Monday, September 17, 2007
Day 8 of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour was held in San Francisco, CA. For the day event, Dave Choe, Saber, and Retna did a live painting installation at Upper Playground on Fillmore. One woman was there to get Saber to sign a shirt she bought her nephew and decided to really go for it and have Dave Choe sign the shirt she was wearing too. The evening event was held at 111 Minna in conjunction with the Juxtapoz Get Exposed party. The place was packed with a line around the building. A definite highlight was when Dave Choe broke out with a rad drum solo between DJ sets. This Wednesday, September 19th, the tour will be in Portland, OR at Upper Playground at 3pm for a daytime event and then at the Rotture bar at 9pm. Click to see photos and video from the San Francisco events with guest artist Retna and details on upcoming stops on the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour.

Day 7: Berkeley hosts Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT

Juxtapoz // Sunday, September 16, 2007
One week into the tour and counting, the artists dig into their reserves to pull off another successful day of painting. Day seven of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour took Saber, Dave Choe and Retna to the grand opening of the Upper Playground Berkeley store on Telegraph Ave. The guys signed the usual books and shirts but switched things up a bit for several willing ladies who wanted Saber to sign their stomachs. We wonder how long that will take to wash off? Fans came out for the evening event held at the Radio bar in Oakland. After this, it's on to San Jose for the tour's last Bay Area stop Sunday, September 16th for a day event at Workmens on Eastridge Loop. Click to see photos and video from the Berkeley event with guest artist Retna and details on upcoming stops on the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour.

Day 6: Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT in Sacramento

Juxtapoz // Saturday, September 15, 2007
Wednesday's Sacramento leg of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour brought out some of the largest crowds we've seen yet. The cops made a special appearance at the day event held at FTC, thankfully leaving without incident. I hope they at least enjoyed the art while they were there! The evening event at R15 featured some rad giveaways including the grand prize - a Bianchi Pista fixed gear. From the California's Capitol it's on to the Bay Area Friday, September 14th for the opening celebration of Upper Playground's newest location in Berkeley (2509 Telegraph Avenue) and then an evening event at Radio in Oakland. Saturday's daytime event in San Francisco will be held at the Upper Playground on Fillmore St. at 3pm. For the evening, the art tour will be held at 111 Minna as part of Juxtapoz' Get Exposed event and will start at 10pm. Day 5: A Day At The Beach

Juxtapoz // Friday, September 14, 2007
Dave Choe and Saber decided to hit the beaches of Santa Cruz for a little downtime before heading to Sacramento. After a bit of sand drawing, they made a brief pit-stop at Dave Choe's pad where he shared one of his more controversial household items - a phallic phone - and then took everyone for a spin in his new car. The guys are in Berkeley today with Retna at the brand new Upper Playground store and will be hanging out tonight at Radio Bar in Oakland, starting about 8:30. Tomorrow, Saturday, September 15th, they'll be at the Upper Playground mothership during the day in the Lower Haight, San Francisco and joining Juxtapoz' Get Exposed party at 111 Minna for the night. Click for photos and video of playtime in Santa Cruz and details on the next stops of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour.

After a day of travel, the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT tour will be in Sacramento Thursday, September 13th with a daytime event at FTC skateboard shop where there will be some cool give-aways, and an evening event at the R15 bar. Day 3: On the Road

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, September 12, 2007
