Sparks' IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT Art Tour with David Choe, Saber and Retna kicks off today (Monday, October 15th) in Baltimore, Maryland. The daytime event is at Chaos Boutique (824 Guilford Ave, Baltimore, MD) from 3pm to 8 pm. Tonight, the boys hit Sonar (407 East Saratoga St., Baltimore, MD) from 10pm until closing time. "Percival" by Lola, is available through Baby Tattooville A 12th artist has been added to the roster of the upcoming Baby Tattooville artist meet-n-greet retreat. Los Angeles-based painter, Lola, joins the all-star cast of Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Luke Chueh, Gris Grimly, James Jean, Frank Kozik, Tara McPherson, Ragnar, (1019), Jeff Soto, and Amanda Vissell for a weekend of workshops, seminars, socials and lots of exclusive art goodies (prints, toys, and originals!) at the truly fabulous Mission Inn in Riverside, California. The West Coast portion of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXTIGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour concluded on Friday, September 21st with two successful events. The daytime event was held at Seattle skate shop, 35th North. Artists Dave Choe, Saber and N8 Van Dyke were there to meet fans, do some signing, and - of course - to paint. The final event was held in the evening at the Lo_Fi Performance Gallery where a good crowd gathered to watch the artists do their thing. The tour is scheduled to pick up again in October with two weeks of East Coast dates so check back soon for dates and locations. While in Portland for the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour, Dave Choe and Saber stopped by the offices of Wieden + Kennedy for an impromptu painting session. Dave Choe has worked with the reputable ad agency in the past and they were kind enough to pick up a drum kit for him to use on his visit. The artists are making their way to Seattle for the last stop on the West Coast portion of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour. After that, they can look forward to a few weeks off before the East Coast leg of the tour, which starts in mid-October. Check back soon for dates and locations! After a two-day hiatus that consisted of driving and the purchase of ninja stars at an army surplus store, the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour resumed in Portland with Saber and Dave Choe doing a live installation at the Upper Playground on NW 5th Ave. The evening event which was held at the Rotture bar on NE 3rd and featured another live painting by the artists and a DJ set by DJ P. This marks the next-to-last stop on the West Coast leg of the tour with a final stop in Seattle, WA. Day 11 was another travel day for the artists and crew of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour. As the tour made its way to Portland (AKA, Stumptown) they decided to make a pit stop at a skate park where Saber and Dave Choe kicked back while tour photographer, Jon Dragonette, had a quick skate session. Once in Portland, the crew checked out an army surplus store that provided hours of entertainment. Their next, and final, stop on the West Coast leg of the tour will have artist, N8 Van Dyke, re-joining them in Seattle, WA. The day event starts at 3pm at 35th North at 1100 East Pike Street. The nighttime event will be held at Lo_Fi Performance Gallery located at 429 Eastlake Ave. E and will feature DJs Hideki and Kamui. Day 10 of the Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour has Saber and Dave Choe traveling through the Pacific Northwest on their way to Portland, OR. The downtime gives the artists a chance to work out sketches for upcoming pieces, re-energize, and get a little "me" time. Today at 3pm, Dave Choe and Saber make their next-to-last West Coast stop at the Upper Playground in Portland located at 25 NW 5th Ave. The nighttime event will be held at the Rotture bar on 315 SE 3rd St. and will start at 9pm. The Sparks IGNITE WHAT'S NEXT art tour made their last Bay Area stop Sunday, September 16th with a visit to the Workmens boutique in San Jose's Eastridge Mall. The afternoon event brought out a slew of spectators from dedicated fans to unsuspecting mall patrons. The West Coast leg of the national tour is winding down with only two stops left: Portland, OR on Wednesday, September 19th and Seattle, WA on Friday, September 21st.
