And yes this could be a Disney lineup circa 2004. And no, Disney would not approve. This is Harmony Korine's newest feature, Spring Breakers, and it puts the bugged out back in... bugged out. There will be debate, and plenty of happy/angry people surrounding Disney and Sam Raimi's new prequel to the landmark 1939 masterpiece, The Wizard of Oz, the James Franco starring Oz: the Great and Powerful. Adapted from L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the film will follow Oz' life prior to our meeting of him in the 1939 film. So we time travel together: 1939 to 2013, back to pre-1939.

In his June 2011 Juxtapoz feature, James Franco admits to being drawn to stories about teenagers, with “Everything being heightened in that world.” There is definitelya very heightened, almost tactile immersion upon entering the long awaited Rebel installation, presented by the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art at the JF Chen Gallery.

In April 2011, MOCA approached Juxtapoz with a unique project that they were producing with James Franco: Rebel,a mult-facitated, mixed-media, collaborative art installation and project loosely based on the making and legacy of James Dean's famed film, Rebel Without A Cause. In July 2011, Juxtapoz published a cover story examining Rebel, interviewing James Franco, Harmony Korine, and Aaron Young, about how the project came about.

Last July 2011, we did a cover story on Rebel, the experimental, multi-part art project fronted by James Franco including components by Harmony Korine, Aaron Young, Douglas Gordon, Paul McCarthy, and Ed Ruscha. After a few delays, MOCA will present Rebel this May 15, and OHWOW will publish the accompanying book.

We don't really know if we are excited about the prequel to the whole "Planet of the Apes" franchise, because nothing beats the Charlton Heston original "Apes" movie.
