Can Pekdemir is an Istanbul-based conceptual artist working on deformation and abstraction of body forms using various methodologies and focused on isolated urban spaces, city and nature relationship using photography as a tool of documentation. He is a full time instructor in Departmant of Visual Communication Design at Istanbul Bilgi University.

Political unrest in Istanbul, Turkey has been heating up with crowds of demonstrators coming out to protest.  The Deputy Prime Minister apologized for the “excessive violence" police used leaving two dead and thousands injured. Of course, anti-political graffiti was involved in the protest!

The Work of Cem Dinlenmi?

Cem Dinlenmi? was born in ?stanbul, Turkey in 1985. His father is a painter and graphic designer, so he was eager to draw at an early age. Cem spent his childhood playing with lego bricks and drawing pirates, knights and such kind of battling and fighting figures, he now lives in ?stanbul and spends his time working, wandering around and watering flowers when he isn't creating these graphic, sometimes political intricate illustrations.

When this author was a kid, he had a collection of toy soldiers handed down to him by his father. We put them into formation, created fake wars, he tried to blow them up. Now, Kuwaiti-based Ala Younis has taken it to another level; taken nine separate toy soldier armies and creating an incredible installation for the Istanbul Art Biennale 2011.
