Ai Weiwei just opened a sculpture exhibition at the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. The work, entitled Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads, was seen in the past in front of the Plaza Hotel by Cenral Park in NYC. The twelve bronze sculptures have been around the world, but for the first time they have made their in Mexico.

Italian artist Alessandro Lupi individually painted each of plyamide thread with fluorescent paint for his latest series of installations entitled Fluorescent Densities and illuminated them with a black light.

Brazilian artist Henrique Oliveira is occupying the expansive Museum of Contemporary Art, University of São Paulo with his largest installation to date with Transarquitetônica. This beautiful immersive exhibit used recycled materials from Oliveira’s home city.

This summer, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago presents the London-based artist Yinka Shonibare MBE, the next artist for the annual plaza series. Shonibare’s installation premieres three sculptures from his new Wind Series. Roughly twenty feet high, each monumental sculpture captures the movement of a billowing bolt of fabric, with designs inspired by the sails of ships, and patterns derived from Dutch wax fabric, or “African” batik...

Our good friend and March 2013 cover artist Mike Shine has been busy in Northern California over the past year, culminating in a full-on performance and exhibition of the Hell Brewers at Art Works in San Rafael, California this past March. Shine passed along a few images to us last week, and because he and the Hell Brewers will be performing and curating a special artzone at Outside Lands 2014 this August with Juxtapoz in San Francisco, we are getting ourselves in the mood today.

We went to check out the second group show of Succulent Studios, a new and unique 3,000 square foot gallery space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
