Daniel Canogar projects footage from 360 DVDs back onto their surfaces

Spanish artist Daniel Canogar took footage from 360 used DVDs and projected the images back onto their surfaces in a sculptural installation titled Sikka. The projected film segments were all selected based on their color, sound, shape and movement, creating an amazing 'audio-visual mosaic.'  

Four Sculptures Represent the Seasons @ New York Botanical Gardens

Four different sculptures representing the four seasons are currently on display at The New York Botanical Gardens between May 18th and October 27th, 2013. The 15-foot-tall sculptures by artist Philip Haas have all been built with material that is native to each season. 

Kader Attia's Mirrored Tombstones

  “From a distance the mirrors shine brightly but the closer you get the less attractive they become because they reflect reality,” says Parisian artist, Kader Attia, speaking on the series “Holy Land”. The environment altering installations of mirrored tombstones have been displayed in two locations, one on the Canary Islands and the other in the countryside of Tucson. Attia’s Interest lies in the conflict of identity, specifically cultural backgrounds and ethnicity.

Giant Charred Matchstick Faces by Wolfgang Stiller

German artist Wolfgang Stiller created an installation of giant matchsticks featuring charred faces sculpted on to the end. Using pieces of lumber and head molds, the artist fabricated the pieces to seem as though the faces emerged after the match was struck and burned-out. 

"Luminaria," an Inflatable Structure by Architects of Air

Descibed by one visitor as 'somewhere between a womb and a cathedral,' Luminaria is touring inflatable PVC structure by Architects of Air that has been travelling the globe since 1992. Visitors to the 'building' enter through an air lock and free to roam the colorful, surreal interior.

288 special two-handed analog clocks independently powered by 576 electrical engines in Victor Hunt's new installation to create a giant display visually expressing the time digitally. The dancing arms are part of the A Million Times exhibition developed by Stockholm-based 'humans since 1982' and showing at Design Days Dubai 2013.

Do Ho Suh's "Karma" installation at NOMA

The extraordinary Korean installation artist, Do Ho Suh, has managed to create a giant H.R. Giger-looking alien tail out of 98 men standing on top of each other, with each figure covering each other’s eyes. Resemblances of a spinal cord also come to mind. Made from stainless steel, “Karma” was recently installed in the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art. At 23 feet tall bending to the sky, this piece is a must to see in person if you live in New Orleans.

Kickstarter: Custom Pinball Machine Art Show

Tilt Warning Customs has teamed up with artists to build an entirely custom classic pinball arcade art installation featuring five mechanically restored vintage 1970s machines reimagined by COOP, Frank Kozik, Alex Pardee, Sam Flores, and Jeremy Fish. Should the Kickstarter funding come through, they will start by opening at FIFTY24SF next year.
