Photos: The Dirty Show '08

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, February 20, 2008
The Dirty Show is an annual event held in Detroit to celebrate erotic art in all forms. Created by Jerry Vile, The Dirty Show was held on two separate weekends this year: the weekend of February 7th and the 14th (how appropriate for Valentine’s Day)! Vile was kind enough to pass along some photos by Michael Spleet of the event. Trust us, we needed photographic proof of some of the insane goings on at the show! More here…

Lie-ins and Tigers

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, December 04, 2007
The website Lie-ins and Tigers doesn't give much away about the three geniuses behind it. What we can determine is that they are three British illustrators/animators/dudes named Samuel Kerr, Walter Newton, and Russell Weekes who are all what we like to call "clever bastards." Their work is funny, and weird, and doodly. We spent the better part of an hour looking at everything they had to offer and giggling quietly. What more do we need to know? Nothing, that's what.

Kirk Hiatt

Juxtapoz // Thursday, November 15, 2007
We're slowly coming to terms with how insanely colorful art has become recently, even if our eyes still burn a little from all the neons. That's why we can tell you about Philly artist Kirk Hiatt. Kirk recently graduated from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, apparently with a degree in bright-ass markers. He's just dropped a new site and some new samples of his loud and blobby work to sear your retinas with. Put on your aviators and check out

22 Flavors Update

Juxtapoz // Thursday, August 16, 2007
Lifelounge has gotten into full swing with their 22 Flavours project. The site has been updated with all but three of the artist submissions (saving that secret Porous Walker for last, eh?) And, it's better than we could have hoped, which is insane because our hopes were already sky high. It's fast approaching the release date for all the tees (exactly when that is, we cannot reveal... because we don't know). If you sign up for their mailing list, you could be the first one on your block to have a t-shirt other people will try to stab you for. Your Kevlar vest might hide most of it, but they'll still know it's there. Just like grandad said, you gotta protect your flavor. {moscomment}

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, August 08, 2007
A few photos (and a couple videos) from N8 Van Dyke and Usugrow's shows, Learn Of Light By Defining A Shadow and Premeditated Insanity respectively, at Fifty24SF's two gallery spaces in San Francisco. This is the debut show for the renovated lower-level gallery which was partially-destroyed earlier this year by a wayward station wagon. Both shows opened on Thursday, August 2nd and will be on display throughout the month.

Derek Hess Calendar Contest Winners

Juxtapoz // Thursday, January 05, 2006
We had our first online contest, and these are the winners. We got a pile of Derek Hess 2006 calendars here at the Jux office, so we decided to share the love with others. We asked people to "Submit a drawing based on this question: What are your plans for 2006?"
