We stopped by Corey Helford Gallery for their latest exhibition “Crucifixion,” a group exhibition inspired by the images and symbolic influence of the crucifixion. The exhibition features new works from Glenn Barr, Ray Caesar, Victor Castillo, Ron English, Natalia Fabia, Korin Faught, Sarah Folkman, Nancy Fouts, Eric Joyner, Benjamin Bryce Kelley, Maria Kreyn, Marco Mazzoni, Buff Monster, Annie Owens, Michael Page, Chris Pugliese, Candice Tripp, Mark Dean Veca, Nicola Verlato, Tom Neely, Lola, Tom Bagshaw, and Amy Sol.

This past weekend we stopped by New Image Art for the opening reception of their latest group exhibition, California Photography Now. The show featured the works of Jerry Hsu, Todd Jordan, Kevin “Spanky” Long, Jen “JR” Reynolds, Curits Buchanan, Tino Razo, Neck Face, Sagan Lockhart, Gregory Bojorquez, Sandy Kim , Teen Witch and Retna.

This past weekend we stopped by the opening reception for Mercedes Helnwein’s latest solo exhibition, Make It Dark, at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles. Last week, we attended the opening of Jim Drain's Drain Expressions exhibition at Prism Gallery in Los Angeles. The show "proposes a level of visual fecundity that has long been present in the artist's work - elaborate woven compositions, deconstructed paintings, immersive wall patterns, wall-mounted sculptures and gently satirical promotional posters are drawn together in the artist's first major exhibition in Los Angeles in 8 years."

This past weekend, we made it out to Blum & Poe for a special exhibition by Kishio Suga, one of the leading figures of Mono-ha (School of Things), a group of artists who radically redefined Japanese art during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This is Suga's first solo exhibition with the gallery and his first solo presentation in North America.

Last weekend saw the Los Angeles return of Mexico City-based Saner with the exhibition Catharsis at New Image Art Gallery. Curated by Medvin Sobio of 33third Los Angeles/Mid-City Arts, Catharsis represents the final act in a cycle of solo exhibitions Saner has been developing, where each one has looked to generate an emotional change over the spectator, guiding the viewer towards a path of rebirth, freedom & purification.
