This weekend we attended the opening of Terry Richardson’s first Los Angeles solo exhibition Terrywood at OHWOW Gallery. With a line down the block the entire night this was quite the event. Last night we stopped by the opening reception for Australian artist Anthony Lister’s solo exhibition at New Image Art in Los Angeles. This particular exhibition featured a montage of figurative renderings with special focus on the central theme of the beautiful and sometimes twisted form of the dancing ballerina. We stopped by the opening reception for Excavated Revelations, a two-person show featuring the artwork of ZES and RETNA. Introduced in their youth by their mutual friend AYER, ZES and RETNA led parallel lives through an upbringing in graffiti. Utilizing a fluidity and precision they mastered by painting some of the most coveted walls in the city, their refined technique is now exemplified in this fresh body of abstract work. We stopped by the opening reception for Michael Miller’s West Coast Hip Hop A History In Pictures, this past weekend at Known Gallery. Over the past 25 years, Miller has built an expansive portfolio that includes over 300 major record covers, the most iconic supermodels of the ‘90s and some of the biggest names in rap and jazz. Return of the Repressed: Destroy All Monsters 1973-1977, a stunning retrospective of works created by the 1970s artist collective Destroy All Monsters opened this past weekend at Prism Gallery in Los Angeles. Curated by Dan Nadel and Destroy All Monsters member Mike Kelley, this exhibit consists of a plethora of works from Niagara, Kelley, Jim Shaw, and Cary Loren--some of which have never been exhibited before.

This past weekend, we stopped by the private opening of Season In Supurbia, the latest solo exhibition (and first show in LA in over 10 years) of legendary artist, Ron English. The exhibition is currently on display at Corey Helford Gallery, and features works examining suburban life dosed with a cocktail of subversive visuals, consumer culture, and POPaganda politics.
