This morning we take a look at a variety of large-scale art and sculpture installations by Danish-Icelandic artist and designer Olafur Eliasson and his studio. Olafur is known for using materials such as light, mirrors, water, and air temperature to enhance the viewer's experience.  

We are always looking for great music videos, either in their simplistic mastery of their full-blown artistic expression. Oh, and it helps if the song is good. Sin Fang's "Look At the Light" video, directed by Máni M. Sigfússon who is actually the person behind Sin Fang, is a stunning piece of video art, taking some of the concepts we have loved recently in the double-exposure works of Pat Perry or Oriol Angrill Jordà, but adding some experimental digital elements. 

We have never been to Iceland, but we can only assume, especially with the artistic output from the island nation, that there is a good bit of creative discourse going on amongst the young people. They have standout bands and artists who call Iceland home, and we are mesmerized by the works of Julia Mai and her She's Full of Colour series. Mistakes and freedoms bring the portraits to life, and we appreciate good linework matched with abstraction.

Icelandic band, Sigur Rós, have always created music on their own terms with an original sound, production, and visual identity. Over the past year, they have been releasing music videos with renowned filmmakers as part of the Valtari Mystery Film Experiment. Ryan McGinley's film happens to be one of our favorites of the year. We want to rave a bit right now. We love it when we see a great approach to illustration, especially when its based on a photograph, and the work that Iceland's Siggi Eggertsson completed for the Icelandic bank, Landsbankinn, are some of our favorite works we have seen in illustration this year. 

Whether creating waterfalls along the East River in NYC, a rainbow panorama viewing room at the Aros Museum in Aarthus, Denmark, or a beautiful one-way color tunnel like the one we saw at SFMoMA, Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson is one of the most heralded contemporary artists working today. In short, he is like a scientist who happens to make incredibe, immersive, experience-based art. Just in time for the Olympics, Eliasson will open Little Sun at the Tate Modern.

Leave it to Iceland to have serene beauty such as this. The design firm, Choi + Shine Architects, came up with this, The Land of Giants an attempt to transform "mundane electrical pylons into statues on the Icelandic landscape by making only small alterations to existing pylon design." These designs were submitted as a competition entry in March of 2008 to Landsnet, Iceland national power transmission company who was working in collaboration with the Association of Icelandic Architects.

Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson just opened his newest installation piece, Your Rainbow Panorama, a permanent structure that provides a 360º view of the city of Arhus, Denmark. The structure sits above the ARoS Museum of Art.
