"The Edge Effect" by Daniel Kukla

Street Art // Friday, October 05, 2012
Last spring, Brooklyn-based photographer, Daniel Kukla, took refuge for a month in a cabin in the Joshua Tree National Park as part of an artist’s residency by the United States National Park Service. From sun up to sun down, Kukla roamed the desert with a mirror, easel, and camera. He photographed the propped mirror to catch the opposing elements within the environment, creating abnormal yet striking imagery as a result.

Works by Ruben Ireland

Juxtapoz // Friday, October 05, 2012
This isn't the first time this year that we have shown the works of UK illustrator Ruben Ireland, as we enjoy the balance of figures and animals, and the great color balance in each piece. As Ireland notes, he mixes traditional techniques and digital processing to complete each work.

The Humanesque Yoda sculpture

Juxtapoz // Friday, October 05, 2012
We like Yoda, but this is sort of creepy looking. This the work of Andrea Eusebi, who has created a Yoda using a plastiline modeling clay. He has taken the green little Jedi master and made him look like an aged grandfather with really impressive ears.

Anai Greog's Circular Motions

Illustration // Thursday, October 04, 2012
Romanian artist Georgiana Teseleanu, aka Anai Greog, draws upon her experience as a psychotherapist, as well as her own journey into her unconscious mind, as emotional inspiration for her geometrically-driven illustrations. The circular shape of her canvas arises from a personal place, allowing her both the spacial limits and conceptual freedom she needs to fully explore her creative visions.

The Works of Angelica Alzona

Juxtapoz // Thursday, October 04, 2012
The passion and desire in Angelica Alzona's work bleeds through in her painterly illustrations and portfolio work. As a current Senior at the Rhode Island School of Design, there is no doubt in our mind that this young artist will continue to express talent and dedication in her future work.

The Works of Rik Lee

Juxtapoz // Wednesday, October 03, 2012
A couple new tattooed renderings from Rik Lee, an artist that lives and draws in Melbourne, Australia. He works with grey lead pencils, watercolours and his computer creating beautiful illustrations with tattoo undertones. When he’s not drawing Rik tries not to fall off his skateboard and enjoys talking in detail about the weather. In the future he intends to draw more, travel more, get more tattoos, drive a ’67 Chevy Impala and move down the coast with his girl and his dog.

Marco Mazzoni's Moleskin

Illustration // Wednesday, October 03, 2012
We came across some of Marco Mazzoni's new moleskin sketches for his upcoming show at Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle. This piece, “The Moralist”, out of colored pencils and pen on paper from his moleskin, is specifically for his show, “The River of Milk”, opening October 12th. Can't wait to see what else he has in store.

Flo Nuttall's Solid Line

Tattoo // Sunday, September 30, 2012
I can certainly say that one of my favorite kinds of tattoo (visually) is simple, black solid line work. Even if it is an unfinished piece, I love the simplicity and relationship it has to illustration. This series is from the incredibly talented Flo Nuttall, who believe it or not, has only been tattooing for a year and a half!! Schedule yourself in now while you still can, Flo is at Love Hate Tattoo, in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
