Preview: Miss Van "Wild At Heart" @ Copro Gallery, Santa Monica

Juxtapoz // Tuesday, July 31, 2012
Former Juxtapoz cover artist, and continually one of our favorite fine artists working today, French-born, Barcelona-based artist Miss Van is set to open a new exhibition, Wild at Heart, at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Internationally known for her poupées, the French word for dolls, Miss Van’s dreamlike narratives are filled with spontaneity and lightness. Yet they also reveal a darker side that has evolved from her experience as an acclaimed graffiti artist.

He opened his first studio in Nicosia and in 2009 began attracting attention by winning awards at national and international conventions. The Louis Vuitton waffle maker by Andrew Lewicki

Juxtapoz // Sunday, July 29, 2012
You can now eat luxury (and there are a ton of people who gobble up LV goods like they are waffles, and we are pretty sure that LV makes their low end bags like waffles). OTIS graduate Andrew Lewicki has created one of our favorite sculptures of the year; the Louis Vuitton Waffle Maker. Waffles from here go for $32. Joking. Not really.

The Paintings of Michael Page

Juxtapoz // Sunday, July 29, 2012
We have seen the works of Michael Page over the years at Copro Gallery and Shooting Gallery, but this year we have become increasingly impressed by the works of the San Francisco-based painter. Each work is acrylic and oil on canvas, each one appearing to be a discovery of a distant universe or surreal dream brought to canvas.

LEGO Street Fighter Set

Juxtapoz // Saturday, July 28, 2012
Custom LEGO builder Julian Fong took over a year to create the custom LEGO Street Fighter mini set, just in time to celebrate the landmark video games 25th birthday. The hand-painted figures have even been submitted to become an actual series.

The Works of REMED

Juxtapoz // Friday, July 27, 2012
Featured in our August 2012 issue is French-born, Spain based fine artist and muralist REMED. What first attracted us to REMED? Simple; his use of color to create simple, flowing characters reminded us of the great abstract artist that came before him. But this application to the street works have brought international attention to REMED, and we think this is as good as time as any to showcase a range of the artist's work.

Top 20 Alex Pardee Works

Top List // Friday, July 27, 2012
Alex Pardee went to my high school's rival school. In saying that, I really wish I had some sort of Varsity Blues like story to tell you, but I really don't; I just wanted to make anecdote to lead this list of our Top 20 Alex Pardee paintings...

Umbrella Installation in Águeda, Portugal

Juxtapoz // Friday, July 27, 2012
Perhaps the filter on these photos by Patrícia Almeida make these even more eye-catching, but we are showing you this because we think its a great idea for a public art project. In the town of Águeda, Portugal, colorful umbrellas are hung over promenades, giving your walk an interesting hue and something quite lovely to gaze up at.

Reframe by Adam Scales, Pierre Berthelomeau, and Paul Van Den Berg

Juxtapoz // Thursday, July 26, 2012
For the 2012 Festival of Lively Architecture (yes, that is a festival) architects Adam Scales, Pierre Berthelomeau, and Paul Van Den Berg created Reframe, a structure that gives the illusion of an 3-dimensional portal. From above, the structure appears to be a well-contstructed cube, but is when you walk around and experience the piece that the new dimensions begin to appear.

The Banksy Olympics

Juxtapoz // Monday, July 23, 2012
With the London Olympics set to open on Friday, July 27, everyone is getting into the celebratory/satirical mood. Banksy was going to miss this opportunity to land a few punches and comical jabs at the increasingly corporate games, and he just produced two new street pieces to show his "support" of the Olympics.
