Hillary White's Pop-Reinterpretations

Illustration // Tuesday, March 26, 2013
Hillary White's pop-art-history interpretations provide a hilariously refreshing re-imagining of these opposite ends of visual culture. Born in Main, "from the salty depths of a bubbling cauldron overflowing with '80s pop culture, classical art, and Alice and Wonderland," White focuses her artistic energy on mashing up pop-culture with mastheads of classical art. We love these weird, unabashedly-clashing portraits of The Muppets, Aliens, memes, superheroes and R2D2.
