Today, March 21 @ the Converse Pop-Up shop inside the downtown San Francisco Urban Outfitters, SF-artists and Jux friends Henry Lewis and Kevin E Taylor will be customizing your Converse sneakers from 4—9PM. We hear a rumor that there will be free PBR, which, if you are walking your way home, sounds like a good stop-off idea. 

Over the past year, Juxtapoz and Converse have teamed on a unique project, Wall to Wall, where we invite a local artist in a city in North America to create a semi-permanent mural based around the artist's interpretation of the iconic Converse star. For us, we have been allowed to curate a project based around something we care about: murals and public art. And Converse has allowed us to invite an ecletic group of artists, from Lango, Dave Ellis, Troy Lovegates, Hitnes, 123Klan, and others to create brilliant works for the public to enjoy.

Henry Lewis is a tattoo artist and prolific painter from San Francisco who often combines human, animal, and textual elements into his mythical works. This collection of sketches and ink paintings--with dragons, beasts, and Asian-inspired linework--almost looks like it could be found in a museum of ancient paintings, but the amazingly tripped out energy of these works is all his own.

Relics challenges the fate of forgotten things in a world of excess, and breathes new life into discarded and found objects.

Tonight marks the opening Neon Knightsby Lango Olivera and Henry Lewis at 111 Minna Gallery, and we have your exclusive preview images after the jump. Lewis is one of San Francisco's most accomplished tattoo artists, while Lango, a tattooist himself, is one of the most skilled graffiti/muralists we have had in the magazine in the past few months (he was part of the November 2011 Pushead curated issue).
