The 5th show on Søren Solkær's SURFACE world tour opened Friday, June 12 at Øksnehallen in central Copenhagen. This exhibition covers a 3.500 square meter area and features 122 portraits in large formats. The portraits will be hung in a network of "streets" - resembling walls of an imaginary city. In the week leading up to the opening, six international and highly esteemed artists were invited to create large-scale murals in the streets of Copenhagen. The artist are: Conor Harrington (UK), ROA (Belgium), Borondo (Spain), DALeast (China), Maya Hayuk (US) and HuskMitNavn (DK). They all produced murals in the Vesterbro area of Copenhagen, that is also the home of the exhibition venue.

I was finally meeting up with Roa again, it's been way too long since I last saw him. So I'm glad our travel plans suited each other this time around. We had an amazing week and I'm pleased to share my comprehensive documentation of his new large-scale contextual mural, a gigantic Tyrannosaurus skeleton, which he painted during four days on a factory building in Bromölla, Sweden for Ifö Center.

Our friend and contributor Henrik Haven recently went and checked out Ken Sortais' (aka Cony from PAL crew) show, Les Peregrinations De Si Atroce, at Galerie Celal in Paris. Check it out!

Our good friend and contributor Henrik Haven just sent some teaser shots of Nychos's new works in Denmark for the Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival. Nychos, Horfee, Blade and John Howard were all doing new works this past week in the small Danish town, and it looks like a school got a touch of the Weird. Summer is here, and the European continent is getting new public works!

No question, there aren't many artists that pique our interest quite like Todd "REAS" James. For the past few years, his technicolor portraits of cartoon modern day pirates and contraband, with no expression and done in a flat, abstract style, are a nice counter-balance to the millions of images we see on news networks depicting contemporary warfare. James just opened Free To Be You & Me at V1 Gallery in Copenhagen...

A bunch of street art festivals are going off in the world right now, Johannesburg, Italy, and Norway, and we just got a series of shots from the opening of FAME Festival in Grottaglie, Italy. Vhils, Ericailcane, Interesni Kazki, Lucy McLauchlan, and others all had work in the opening show to coincide with the street works across the town.
