Kustaa Saksi "Hypnopompic" @ Korjaamo Gallery, Helsinki

Amsterdam based and internationally appreciated artist Kustaa Saksi showcases the exhibition Hypnopompic, presenting surreal and unique artworks manufactured with jacquard weaving technique. The textiles are made of mohair and alpaca wool, cotton and synthetic materials, such as phosphate and metallic acrylic thread. The exhibition also features a series of serigraphs on paper. The show is open at Korjaamo Gallery in Helsinki, Finland through September 15, 2013.

We have been huge fans of the works of Jaume Plensa for a long time, and always like sneaking a peek at the sculpture he has up in the Crosby Street Hotel, but his public art is where its at. The artist has lived in Paris, Berlin, Brussels, England, France, USA, and Barcelona, and is best known for his works using the human figure comprised with numbers. He recently had works installed in Calgary, Alberta and Helsinki, Finland.

Jenni Rope is an artist based in Helsinki, Finland that works with many different practices including drawing, painting, illustration, animation, and print design. Her paintings shown here have a pleasing attention to brush stroke, geometry, form, and color, making the physicality of the paint and artist's hand very apparent, alluding to a painterly application of her illustrative and design expertise.
