"When Worlds Collide:" Chet & James Zar http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/qwhen-worlds-collideq-chet-a-james-zar http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/qwhen-worlds-collideq-chet-a-james-zar Master of the macabre, Chet Zar, has a new and very unique show coming Saturday, may 16th, 2009 titled When Worlds Collide. Unique because, “it will feature new works by myself and my pops (James Zar),” Chet explains. “It should be a wild show since his visionary/fantasy works are pretty much the opposite of my gloom and doom stuff! Anyway, I am super excited about showing with my dad and the new pieces I am working on are definitely my strongest and most detailed paintings to date.” Looks like talent runs in the family. Zar also included new pieces from a couple of his most recent shows, We Are The Shadows and Ugly American. These are the first prints issued from these shows. “I am really proud of these prints,” Zar told Juxtapoz. “They just look really sharp due to some new printing techniques I have picked up as well as a higher quality paper.” Grab your new Chet Zar print now at chetzar.com]]> Editor@juxtapoz.com (Juxtapoz) Juxtapoz Mon, 25 Aug 2008 08:33:23 -0700 Chet Zar's "Ugly American" http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/chet-zars-qugly-americanq http://www.juxtapoz.com/current/chet-zars-qugly-americanq Chet Zar’s catalog from his show Ugly American is now available for purchase! Monster master Chet Zar's Ugly American opened at Strychnin Gallery's London location on Friday the 13th of June (how appropriate!) The show features 13 original, and especially eerie, paintings by Chet (the designer, special effects make-up artist and animator behind movies such as Hellboy, The Ring, The Fantastic Four, and others.) Chet says the inspiration for the Ugly American title came from a recent visit to Berlin where he "kept having to apologize to everyone about America" and explain, "We're not all that bad." Ugly American runs until mid-July, but his artwork will live on forever in the photos right here…
