If you happened to purchase or browse through our Juxtapoz Hyperreal book, you have have stopped in your tracks at the work of Jessica Hess. Her work with oil on canvas works depict the more depleted parts of urbanity, but also carry out such strong and absorbing color control that these almost photorealistic works become abstract in appearence. On Saturday August 1, Hess will open More is More, a solo show of new paintings at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco, and we have an interview with Hess talking about the work and the city as inspiration.

Hashimoto Contemporary continues their solid 2015-calendar year programming with a Summer Group show happening now through July 25, 2015 at their Sutter St location in San Francisco. Crystal Wagner, Brett Amory, Casey Gray, Derek Weisberg, Jessica Hess, and Erik Jones are just a few of the artists showing, as the gallery has collected " a combination of both local and international artists who have shown work all over the world, spanning galleries in the U.S and the U.K, to Greece, Mexico and Canada, to walls in Palestine, Singapore and Australia, and we are thrilled to be assembling them together under one roof."

“Drifting Forest”, local graffiti legend GATS's latest exhibition at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco, closes this Saturday. Following his sold out two-person show last year alongside San Francisco-based painter Jessica Hess, GATS returns this May for his solo debut at the gallery.
