Update: Intricate Illustrations by Nicolas Delort

Juxtapoz // Thursday, October 10, 2013
Nicolas Delort is a freelance illustrator based in Paris, France. His monochrome pen and ink drawings show a taste for the fantastical, as evidenced by his numerous Harry Potter-themed pieces. The line quality in Delort's  work is astounding, and we're more than a little reminded of another French great by the name of Gustave Doré.

Gustave Doré’s Engravings of the Great Flood

Illustration // Friday, December 21, 2012
Perhaps one of the greatest masters of illustrating deep dark subject matter with morbid undertones is Gustave Doré, a French artist, engraver, illustrator and sculptor who passed in 1883. His depictions of "The Flood,", formed the frontispiece of Doré's illustrated bible. Doré, who also created famous images for the illustrated edition of Dante's Divine Comedy, frequently depicted his subjects under profound suffering. Very Apocalypse appropriate.
