This past NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston at the Museum of Fine Art Houston, creative agency Doubleday & Cartwright of Brooklyn (featuring one of our favorites in Grotesk) worked with Nike on a special project that had 50 artists interpret 50 great moments from the life and career of Michael Jordan. Jordan was celebrating his 50 birthday right around the All-Star weekend, and seeing that he represents the absolute height of basketball greatness, D&C had some great artists on board... including Jason Jagel, Lola Dupre, Aldous Massie, Grotesk, Sophia Chang and others contribute.

We have been anticipating this release for over a month now. June 2009 cover artist, Grotesk, has teamed up with the limited-editioned sculpture studio, Case Studyo, to release 6ft-6in, a lamp made in ode to the legend that was #23. The piece releases today, January 25, and will be made in an edition of, you guessed it, 23. To promote 6ft-6in, Grotesk and design agency, Doubleday & Cartwright, made an animated story about the lamp that lost its way.

Kimou Meyer, aka Grotesk, is a Swiss-born, NYC-based designer and artist. Finding inspiration in the visual language of the Brooklyn streets, his work intentionally blurs the line between social commentary and corporate branding. His tee shirt and apparel designs are in particularly high demand, and his clientele continues to rapidly expand all over the world.
