For SCOPE Miami Beach 2014, we brought the icon to life, with Grotesk and his team constructing a full-scale, operating model of the illustration to serve as the headquarters for Juxtapoz during South Beach festivities all week.

Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine has enjoyed the entirety of 2014 celebrating our 20th anniversary as a print publication. From a massive group show at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC in the Spring, to a surfboard charity auction in San Diego, to publishing two new book titles, Psychedelic and Hyperreal, as well as countless special features in the magazine, we are proud to have paid homage to our past, present and future. Now, in partnership with our friends at SCOPE Miami Beach 2014, we present a series of galleries that epitomize the most dynamic and cutting-edge contemporary art in the world today. It is safe to say we are gratified to close out this 20th year with one of our most ambitious projects to date. Our installation dates will run the entirety of Scope Miami Beach 2014, December 2—7, 2014.

We love this collab, and we are going to pass this over to CS to explain the project: Grotesk X Case Studyo release a new edition of “6ft 6in” this time in the white/black/varsity green color way “The Boston”. A Shining Tribute to The Hardwood Showdowns of Yesteryear. This is the last edition of this series and we won't produce it again!

Benny Gold, contributor and friend of Juxtapoz, featured in our March issue, has become a San Francisco staple for his artfully designed clothing. He is now trying his hand as a curator. Gold sent blank airplanes made of balsa wood to artists all over the world. Each artist painted, carved, burned, and otherwise made each airplane into singular works of art.

Launching today, Hi-Art is a free mobile digital sticker app that allows friends to browse, save and share emotions, messages, and thoughts in fun detailed images. Most importantly, the digital stickers were illustrated and designed by many of the artists we consistently feature like Vizie, Todd James, Ron English, Dan Santoro, Grotesk and more.

As a DJ in Switzerland during the early 90s, Kimou Meyer aka GROTESK caught Wu Tang’s “Can It All Be So Simple” video on a Music Television network that still lived up to its name. MC Raekwon sported a windbreaker decorated only with the words ‘SNOW BEACH’ across the chest—a fascinating and entirely confusing statement for the Swiss artist, whose theories about the jacket’s meaning drifted far and wide in the pre-Google darkness....

And finally, the art. We are so proud of all the artwork that is on exhibit in "Art Truancy: Celebrating 20 Years of Juxtapoz Magazine," open at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in NYC through June 14, 2014. It blows our mind that we are now two decades old, but what is even more amazing are all the artists that have been in our pages over those years. Their works tell the story, create the chance to document alternative art narratives, bring out the fans, bring out the collectors, and keep the creative energy of Juxtapoz alive. Here, then, is all the art in "Art Truancy."

On May 15, 2014, Juxtapoz and Jonathan LeVine Gallery will open "Art Truancy: Celebrating 20 Years of Juxtapoz Magazine," a group exhibition at both of LeVine's spaces at 557C West 23rd Street & 529 West 20th Street in Manhattan. The exhibition features a wide-range of cover artists and featured artists from over the past 20 years, and today we have a look at some of the covers from artists in the show. From Robert Williams to Grotesk, Mark Ryden to Swoon, here is a bit of a history lesson to catch up on, or reminisce over.

Grotesk has been a busy man. We had him do a special t-shirt at our showcase during SXSW, and he continues his design duties around the world of sports and art culture. (He also designed two of our favorite covers of all-time, the newsstand and subscriber of issue n101). He has released a version of the "6ft 6in" lamp with Case Studyo in the past, but now he has just released a black/red "banned" colorway version of the lamp, standing 75cm – 30inch high and featuring hand painted wood. Made in an edition of 23, naturally.
